June 12

Good morning! We just wanted to give you a quick update on things happening around Micah.

1. Pedro Luis was granted his Visa last week! Praise the Lord! He will be leaving next week with Becca Bell and traveling to St. Louis and then on to Honey Rock in Wisconsin.  We are so thankful that everything came together and that he is able to go to the US.  Pray for PL as he prepares for his trip, may he be filled with the peace of the Lord and not feel anxious or nervous.

2. Today we are having a dedication ceremony for Micah 2.0.  We pray that all may go well and that it may be a special time for the Micah community as well as the Villa Linda Miller community.  We have a group from First Presbyterian Church Houston, TX with us this week.  A few of the members will be participating in the ceremony today.  We are so thankful to have them here to share this special day with us.

 3. This week we will be officially launching our capital campaign! (more details about that to come) Pray that everything will come together and may the mission and vision of Micah 2.0 be spread!

Prayer Requests: June 5

Hello dear friends and family of the Micah Project! Please join us this week in lifting up the following things to our Heavenly Father:

-Mama Jo's Bakery recently signed a contract with Espresso Americano, a Starbucks type coffee shop here in Honduras.  Beginning in July they will be selling several of their products to many of the branches here in the city! They also received an order from another coffee shop, The Coffee Cup, for their cinnamon rolls.  Praise the Lord that business is booming and that they were able to get contracts with the major coffee shops.  May everything continue to operate smoothly without the direction of Natasha, as she is heading back to the states this week.  May the women step up and accomplish what they need to.

-This week we are starting some new changes in our weekly schedule.  On Mondays the boys will be going out to Micah 2.0 and working on whatever needs to be done, a great way to get them moving and to make them feel part of the process of building Micah 2.0.  The boys will also have "elective" classes twice a week where they can choose an activity that interests them (guitar, English, art, cooking, just to name a few) and develop their skills in that area.  Pray that they boys will adapt well to these changes and may they enjoy learning a new skill that could benefit them in the future.

-As we wrote last week, Pedro Luis finally received his passport. However due to complications at the bank and Embassy we have still not be able to get a visa appointment for him.   We are working with the embassy in order to hopefully get him an appointment for this week.  We know that the process is in the Lord's hands and all we can do is trust in Him and His plans.  May Pedro experience God's peace whatever the outcome may be.

-This past Sunday night we had a "family meeting" during which we expressed our concern for the boys attitudes and behaviors and challenged them to really live out the Micah goal of "forming Christian leaders in Honduras."  It was a powerful time of confession and reflection.  Our prayer is that the boys may realize the consequences of their words and actions and begin to make changes in their attitudes and daily lives that reflect their lives in Christ.  Pray for guidance, wisdom, and courage for the boys.

We thank you for fighting the good fight with us and for praying for the boys, the staff, and the ministry.  We couldn't do it without people like you supporting and encouraging us. Gracias!

Prayer Requests: May 29

Greetings from a hot and rainy Tegucigalpa!  Please join us this week in praying for the following:

-Marlon has been working hard these past few months to get all of Pedro Luis's documents together in order for him to get a passport.  They were finally able to go to Immigration and get him a passport this week! The next step is to get a visa appointment.  We are hoping and praying that his appointment will be within the next two weeks, as he would need to be in Wisconsin at the end of June to work at Honey Rock (a camp associated with Wheaton College where he would work with the service team).  Pray that all goes well and he gets his appointment soon.

-Marvin Morazon and Hector Licona will be finishing up their time at International School in a few weeks.  Pray that they will finish out the year strong.  Hector will then be soon moving to La Ceiba to start his new job there working with street kids.  Marvin will be heading to the US (Portland, OR) later this summer to start classes at Portland community college.  Keep both of these young men in your prayers as they will be facing a lot of changes in the months to come.

-Brian, Natasha, Michael, Brian James, and Nohelia will be moving back to the states in the upcoming week.  We have been so blessed to have them here with us at Micah for the past three years.  The work they have done and the lives they have affected is immeasurable.  We are so thankful for all they have done with Micah Tech and Mama Jo's Bakery.  We are sad to see them go but we know that our Heavenly Father has great and glorious plans in store for them.  Pray for safety in their travels these next few weeks and that they may be able to appropriately deal with the culture shock they will face.  We love you Wiggs!


-The budget for Micah 2.0 is done and set!  We are planning to launch our capital campaign in just a few weeks.  Continue to keep this process and project in your prayers.

Prayer Requests: May 15

Dear friends and family,
We ask that you take a few minutes this week and join with us in praying for the following things:

-Our continuous prayer is for safety and security of the boys and staff as we live in an ever-increasingly dangerous neighborhood.  We are discussing the possibility of hiring someone to watch the house during the day as well as to accompany us to and from the apartments.  The Lord has protected us this far and may He continue to surround us with His guardian angels, whether in the neighborhood or out and about in the city.  We continue to trust in Him and protection.

-Jose, who is studying in Costa Rica, came last week for a short visit during his break from classes.  He will be starting a new semester this week and will be finishing up his schooling soon.  Pray that he may stay motivated and focused in his studies.  May the Lord continue to bless him and his life in Costa Rice.  We enjoyed having him around for a few days!

-Pray for mass transformation of hearts and minds for the boys of the Timothy House.  They have had some conflicts this past week and are working through some issues.  This coming weekend they will be having a spiritual retreat.  Pray that this may be a growing and learning experience for all of them.

 -Last week we had a special inauguration/dedication service for Rogers' new house in Villa Linda Miller.  After over a year of construction he was finally able to move in earlier this month.  Roger was very excited to move in and to be able to bless his family with his new house.  We are so thankful for Roger and all that he has done for Micah over the 12 years he has been with the project.

Thank you so much for your continued support, love, and encouragement, even from afar! Our God had blessed us greatly and for that we are very thankful!

Prayer Requests: May 7

Dear friends and family,
Blessings from Tegucigalpa! This week we ask you to pray with us for the following:

*Michael is celebrating his birthday this week (May 7) and is spending a few days in Roatan with his parents.  We are so thankful for Michael and all of his hard work, passion, and dedication to the Micah Project.  May God bless him with many more years of life! Happy Birthday Michael!

*Matt and Amy Darr are visiting us this week from St. Louis.  They are in the process of adopting a Honduran baby.  It has been a long process thus far but things are going well.  Pray that the Lord will continue to provide all the necessary things and that He may prepare their family (they already have 2 of their own children) to welcome the new child into their lives.

*Axel Lopez moved back into Micah last week.  He is doing most of his studies at the sixth grade level.  We pray that he may stay focused on his studies and be motivated to do his best in school.  Living at Micah has been a little bit of an adjustment for him, compared to where he was living before (at Free The Oppressed Ministries).  May the Lord continue to work in his life and his heart to shape him into the young man He desires him to be.

* We praise the Lord that despite living in a dangerous neighborhood,  He has kept us safe under his protection and care.   Also the boys continue to be a good, stable place.  We are thankful for the ways that they are growing and maturing.

Prayer Requests: April 24

Hello dear friends and family of the Micah Project!  We ask you to join us in prayer this week and lift up the following petitions to our Heavenly Father:


*As you know our barrio (neighborhood) has become progressively more dangerous in recent months.  We are doing our best to keep our boys and staff safe.  Unfortunately last week one of our boys was assaulted and had his phone taken. Thankfully he was not harmed. But due to certain circumstances and for his safety we had to send him out of the city to live with his extended family.  This has been a difficult time for him but we pray that it may also be a life-changing time for him.  May he, and all of us at Micah, learn to depend on our Savior for safety and protection.  May we remember that He is with us no matter where we go.


*This week (Thursday) Axelito will be celebrating his 14th birthday!  We are so proud of him and how much he has grown and matured in his 2 years at Micah.  He is a constant source of joy and laughter.  Keep him in your prayers as he continues to move forward and that the Lord will shape into a fine young man.


*Last Friday was the Third Annual Charles Alford Memorial Golf Classic in Houston, TX.  We are thankful for all of those who went out and played as well as those who supported them and everyone who worked hard to put the whole event together.  Thank you for your time and support for the Micah Project!  Despite the rain it looked like everyone had a great time! 




*Hector Licona has spent the last year working at International School and has done a great job there.  However, he was recently offered a job in La Ceiba working with a missionary who plans to open a drop-in center for street kids.  Hector traveled to La Ceiba a few months ago to check out her ministry and get to know the kids a little.  He has accepted the job and will disciple the boys, give devotionals, visit the kids' homes, and provide protection for Kate as she has been working by herself.  We are very excited for Hector as he begins this new chapter of his life.  He will be a great asset to Kate and her ministry to the street kids of La Ceiba.

Prayer Requests: April 17

Good morning from The Micah Project!  This week we ask that you join us in lifting up the following things to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:


*Our elementary boys had their first quarter exams last week.  The majority of the boys passed their exams but there are a few who are struggling academically.  Pray that they may be more focused and motivated with their studies.  May they learn to be responsible and manage their time well.  We are going to be having "study hall" with them a few times a week to help them learn good studying habits.  Pray that those times will go well and that they boys will learn to appreciate the great gift of education that they have been given.


*The Mama Jo bakery continues to do well and make delicious baked goods.  They have been working on getting a local coffee shop chain as a client.  They have had several meetings with this client and are working through things.  This week they will have stands in one of the local malls.  Continue to keep this business and all the women involved in it in your prayers. 


*We were blessed to have a few friends from Houston visit for a day. Melody, Howard, and a new friend, Amy, stopped by Tegus on their way back to Houston.  It is always a great encouragement when friends come to visit.  Melody was able to accompany some of us to visit Axel Lopez at Free The Oppressed Ministries. Howard (who is on the Micah board) spent lots of time with Michael and Olvin working on Micah 2.0 plans.  We are grateful for their (quick) encouraging visit.



*Keep the staff in your prayers as we have had many busy, crazy, and non-normal weeks filled with lots of activities.  May the Lord give us the rest we need to continue ministering to and loving on the people we come in contact with each day. 


We are blessed to have such a wonderful "extended family" in the US who is constantly encouraging and supporting us.  Muchas Gracias!
