Prayer Requests: March 28

Greeting from warm Tegucigalpa! I apologize for a late update, things have been a little busy lately at the Micah Project.

*Last week and this week we were blessed to have the youth group from Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO with us.  We had a great time with last weeks group and are enjoying our time with this weeks group as well.  They are the first group to start building on Micah 2.0! (They helped to raise the majority of the money for the wall!)  They are making great progress on the brick wall that backs up to VLM.  The group also is spending time with the children of VLM as well as getting to know some of the street youth that we work with.  The boys have loved having the group here and are doing a great job of practicing their English.  They are a great encouragement to us and we are blessed to have them here.  Our prayer is that the youth will be moved by what the Holy Spirit is doing here and that they will be able to take what they have learned here and apply it to their lives in St. Louis.

*Along with the wall being built on Micah 2.0, the well is also being dug! Exciting steps- Praise the Lord!

*Continue to keep the Mama Jo's bakery in your prayers.  They continue to produce delicious treats that are loved by  schools, businesses, and Micah staff. Natasha and Karen are currently working with a large client that would bring in lots of orders and revenue.  Soon they will be meeting with the owner of the largest chain of coffee shops in Honduras!  Pray that these meetings will go well and that soon the bakery will have some big clients.  We are so proud of the moms, Natasha, Karen, and all others involved in this business.

*We ask for prayers of rest, strength, and motivation for the Micah staff.  These weeks have been great but also long and draining on us staff.  As we approach Holy Week/Spring Break, several staff members will be traveling which means more responsibilities for those staff that will be here.  May God provide us with His strength needed to continue to minister to the people of Micah and Tegucigalpa.

We thank you so much for all of your prayers, support, and encouragement!  God's blessings to you and your families!
Grace and Peace.

Prayer Requests: March 13

Good morning and blessings from Tegucigalpa!

*Many of you have heard about or seen pictures of Raul, a neighborhood boy who has been spending lots of time with us as well as studying in fourth grade at Micah.  His mom left him in the care of a lady in our neighborhood.  She is frequently sick and can't properly care for him.  We are discussing taking him in full-time (He often asks at night if he can spend the night).  Several meetings need to happen with him, the other boys, and his care-giver.  We would also need to begin all of the legal processes.  Pray for wisdom and discernment for the staff as well as Raul.  We want to provide him with the best opportunities that we can.

*This weekend we have a youth group coming from Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis. (They have split themselves in two groups, the other one will come the following week.)  They will be participating in our street ministry, classes, and their big project will be building the wall surrounding Micah 2.0.  Pray for them as they prepare to come down, may their hearts and minds be ready for what God has for them.  Pray for safety as well in all of their travels.

*Please keep Micah 2.0 in your prayers.  Within the next week we should have the formal plans from the architect and engineer.  We are in the process of working with the water people to get the well started.  We are also working on registering the land, which could be a long process. Pray that all these things will go smoothly.  Olvin Fuñez has been hired on to help us with Micah 2.0 things.  We are so thankful to have him on board!

*Continue to keep Axel Lopez in your prayers.  We are happy to report that he recently completed four months at Jimmy Hughes Free The Oppressed Ministries.  Pray that he will continue to move forward with his life and take steps in the right direction.    Pray for wisdom, guidance, and peace for him.

We are so grateful for all of our "extended family" in the U.S. - God bless you and we hope that you all have a wonderful week!!

Grace and Peace.

Prayer Requests: March 6

Good morning friends and family of the Micah Project! This week we ask that you lift up in prayer with us the following:
*We are very excited that the architect and engineer have given us the initial plans for Micah 2.0!  Soon we will begin working on the well and the wall surrounding the property.  Michael and Olvin have been hard at work with Micah 2.0 things and the capital campaign.  Pray for guidance, time, and wisdom as they work through all the necessary tasks.

*Despite a few complications Marvin Morazon got his (5 year) Visa to travel to the US! He sure had a great trip to Oregon.  He was able to visit some Micah friends, speak at a few gatherings, perform some of his songs with another singer/rapper, see snow, and bring joy to all those he came in contact with.

*We are thankful that Danilo has found a new job.  He is working with another ministry that reaches out to street kids.  Pray that all will go well with this job and that he will be able to use his many talents there.  Also Daniel Benitez is really enjoying his job working with coffee crops out in eastern Honduras.  We are happy to hear that he is doing well.  May God continue to lead these two young gentlemen in His paths.  May their work be for His glory.

*Pedro Luis was accepted to work at Honey Rock, a camp connected to Wheaton College, this summer! It will be such a great opportunity for growth and maturity for P.L.  Marlon is in the process of getting all of his documents together, but his father's death certificate is hard to find and is a necessity in getting a passport.  Pray that all will come together with getting his passport and then a visa.  It can be a long, stressful process.

*Continue to keep the people of the market area in your prayers.  The government has begun working on cleaning up the parts that were burned, but there is still lots of work to be done.  They are also trying to figure out how to replace all the lost belongings, stands, and jobs.

We thank you so much for your prayers and support that you have given us!
Grace and Peace.

Prayer Requests: February 21

Greetings from the Micah Project! It is starting to get warmer here as we approach the summer season. We pause and take a few moments to share our prayer requests with you:

*As many of you may have heard, Honduras suffered two huge fires within the past week.  First, in the prison in Comayagua where almost 400 lives were lost.  Then this past Saturday the downtown market(where most of the street people live and work) went up in flames. According to reports no lives were lost and there were only a few injures.  But so many lives were affected by the fire, with all the stands and belongings burning to the ground. Pray for the hundreds of people whose lives were changed by the fire.  May they be able to find some glimmer of hope among much loss.

*Marvin got his visa to go to the US! Praise the Lord! Hopefully all goes according to plan and he actually gets the documents he needs to travel this week.  May he be a light to all he meets during his time in the states.

*Michael is back after spending a few days in the states visiting some doctors regarding his back.  Continue to keep him in your prayers as he rests and recovers.  May he be able to get the rest he needs.

*Darwin Pavon recently transferred to Hong Kong, from California, for his job.  He is a long way away from family and friends.  Pray that he will not feel lonely and be able to make some new friends.  May he find peace and trust in the Lord and His plans. We are so proud Darwin, his accomplishments, drive, and motivation.

*Classes continue to go well.  May the boys keep up with their positive attitudes and motivation.
Thank you so much for your outpourings of love, prayers, and support.
Grace and Peace.

Prayer Requests: February 14

Good morning!  Happy Valentine's day to all of you! May your days be filled with lots of love and happiness!  Please join us in praying for the following:

*Michael left Sunday for Houston to visit some doctors there.  He was still experiencing a fair amount of pain and was given a shot for it, but it will take a few days to see if it works and how his body reacts.  Pray for guidance for the nurses and doctors as they work to figure out what is wrong with him.  May he be able to get the rest he needs and may God give him peace of mind.

*This week we have a group of dentists visiting from Houston.  They have been coming for many years and it's always great to have them here! We are thankful for all the time they spent working on the teeth of the Micah boys and staff.  The rest of the week they will be working with the people of Villa Linda Miller. They also have an eye clinic and are passing out glasses to those who need them.  What a great blessing they are!

*Marvin Morazon has applied for a visa to the US and has his interview this week. He is hoping to go to Oregon next week to meet up with Brian Wiggs and share at a few churches.  Pray that all with go smoothly with his paperwork and interview and if it is God's will, may he get his Visa. May Marvin feel at peace with whatever decision is made.

*Emerson, the boy we mentioned last week who began studying with us, has gone through a difficult time these past few days.  We need prayers for discernment on how to best help him and what that looks like.  May we be able to reach him and help him work through some of the issues.

*We are thankful for a great first week of school!  As a whole the boys have behaved very well and have diligently done their homework! We are glad to be off to a good start.

Thanks as always for your continuous support and dedication to the project.
Grace an Peace.

Prayer Requests: February 7

Buenos dias from Tegucigalpa!
Please join us in lifting up the following things to our almighty and powerful Heavenly Father:

-Monday was the beginning of our 2012 school year! We pray for positive and willing attitudes for our students.  We have several new students studying with us this year.  May they feel comfortable and get along well with the rest of the boys.  We are happy to be back in a routine and are very thankful for all of our teachers and the hard work that was put in to get things ready for the new school year.

-Sunday morning Michael woke up with terrible back pain and was rushed to the hospital.  After getting checked out and receiving some pain medicine he was able to come home, but was still in lots of pain and has a hard time walking.  Yesterday he went back to the hospital for a MRI and found out he has a herniated disk.  Pray that he will be able to get the rest he needs and that the pain will go away quickly.  May he be restored to full health soon!

-This week John, Israel, Olvin, and Stephen will be starting small discipleship groups with the boys.  We pray that this may be a time for the boys to grow deeper in their relationships and their faith.  May they feel open and comfortable to share and discuss things that are going on in their lives.  We also pray for wisdom and guidance for the staff that will be leading these groups.

-We are very thankful for the success of Mama Jo's bakery! They are making some delicious baked goods and are doing well with their sales.  We are very proud of the moms and how far they have come.  They all stood a little taller last week as they received their first paychecks.  Praise the Lord!

-Soon we will be launching our capital campaign for Micah 2.0.  We pray for God's provision and guidance.  May we remember to keep the focus on Him, as He is our ultimate provider.

We are forever grateful to all of you and what you do for us!
Grace and Peace.

Prayer Requests: January 31

Good morning friends and family of the Micah Project!
This week we ask that you join us in praying for the following:

-Jarvin and Danilo are looking for jobs, which are hard to find in a city with a very high unemployment rate.  Pray for open doors for them and that they may trust in God's faithfulness.  May God give them the wisdom, direction, and confidence that they need to find the right job.

-Many of our Timothy House boys that are in college are in their first round of exams this week.  Pray that they may be able to focus, study, and recall all that they have learned.

-Marvin Soto, who is in St. Louis, is suffering from Bronchitis. Please pray that God may heal him soon and restore him to full health.  Also keep him in your prayers as he is studying and busy with school.

-We are considering taking in a new Micah boy, Emerson, a 13-year-old who has lived in Covenant House.  Please pray for direction in his life as well as ours and that God will reveal to us if Micah is the right fit for him.  We ask for wisdom and discernment in this process.

-We are very thankful to MDPC in Houston who provided us with enough money to build our water well for Micah 2.0! We will begin construction on that soon.  Our plans for the house are in the final steps as well.  Also, pray that our building permits will come through soon!

-We praise God that all of our staff has returned safely from holiday travels and we are excited to see what God is going to do in us and through us in this new year.

Thanks for your constant supply of love, encouragement, and prayers!
Grace and Peace.
